Tanking Slurry - Grey
PermaSEAL Tanking Slurry is a single pack cement-based coating, consisting of Portland Cements, blended and formulated with quality graded aggregates and chemical modifiers. It is ideal for tanking cellars and basements, keeping them dry by effectively blocking water ingress. It is easy to use - you can apply it directly onto damp substrates with a brush.
In addition, PermaSEAL Tanking Slurry contains an acrylic polymer that imparts improved strength, bonding and abrasion resistance. After hardening, PermaSEAL tanking becomes a vapour permeable and watertight coating capable of withstanding water pressure.
Tanking Slurry Uses
PermaSEAL Tanking Slurry can be used in the following situations:

Tanking of basements and cellars
Above ground damp proofing
Sealing of tanks and ducts
Internal and external waterproofing
Lining of storage tanks for potable water
Coating of brick and block work structures

Using Tanking Slurry
PermaSEAL cementitious tanking is mixed with water on site and applied directly to the surface by brush. It is safe to apply on damp substrates. It is specially formulated to enable excellent adhesion to construction surfaces.
Our tanking slurry is available in two colours, white and grey. As a general guide, use one colour for the first coat then the other for the second coat which makes it easier to see if you have completely covered the surface.
Plastering over tanking slurry
Once tanking is complete…
PermaSEAL Tanking should always be covered by a minimum of a 10mm coat of 4:1 sand and cement render, a 1:1:6 Lime based render or PermaSEAL Renovating Plaster. After this render coat has been applied, dot and dab plaster board, multi finish or a breathable paint can be applied.
Note: all tanking products are prone to sweating during the drying out phase and if left exposed after the product has cured. We suggest they are always covered as above and / or adequate ventilation is installed to manage the humidity.

After doing some research I chose Permaseal as the most suitable product for the fact it is breathable which is ideal for my solid Victorian walls. It is an excellent product and easy to use. A couple of things to note that I learnt, do not mix in the bucket it comes in, find a plastic storage box or similar and be warned once mixed it is very heavy to carry so make sure there is someone with you. Would definately use this product again and recommend.

The product was easy to work with, apply and clean up after. Will definitely require a couple of coats if working on an uneven surface. The recommended coverage is pretty accurate when applied generously. I used a small trowel to push into the odd gap here and there then just brushed over. Can mix by hand but takes a few minutes. Still drying in my basement but looks to be forming a good seal and doing the job.

I previously paid "experts" to fix a damp issue on a wall in our basement and then paid a second lot of "experts" 3 years later and both times the render failed (apparently we have very aggressive salts). I found Permagard online after much research and decided to try to fix the wall myself (nearly 10 years ago). I have since used the product again on a different wall and can attest that the products do a really good job (no further issues on the wall after 10 years!) in particular if you have very aggressive salts which was the reason that the previous "experts" gave as to why their work failed. I had a lot of help over the phone from Permagard which gave me enough confidence to take on the project myself and the helper videos and useful tubs that the products come in make mixing easy. I am sure there are other products out there that do the same but I won't use anything else now because of the great customer service I have had in the past and the amazing results. If I could it would be 6 out of 5 stars! :-)
