Mark, this is great to hear. Oh to have the sleepy life of those kitties in the picture you've sent us!
Hopefully that's the the level of relaxed sleepiness you are experiencing with our Sleep formula! Thanks for taking time out to write us this review. Please give those cuddled up kitties a chin tickle from us.
“Hi there, I’m sure this is a great product, but I’ve been a long time insomniac, that said nothing seems to work for people like me. Maybe an elephant gun”
Oh Barry, insomnia is the worst isn't it. We really do feel your pain on this.
It's a tough one. Because no doubt you've done all the research, tried all the recommendations, no screens before bed, no caffeine after 2pm, etc etc, the list goes on. And still no sleep.
We're gutted our Sleep formula hasn't been able to help you. We formulated this to be safe for long-term use (opting for L-Tryptophan over the quicker fix of 5-HTP). Benefits will build over time, but we understand it's not a fix for all sleep disorders.
If you are continuing on your quest for the right supplement, just double check ingredients are safe for long term use. And Barry—elephant guns are definitely not on the safe-to-use list!
Thanks so much for giving us a go, we really appreciate that. We hope you find something that helps and get a good night's sleep soon.
“I have used Sleep for a few years. I stopped and used other brands. I am back now with Performance Lab Sleep . Excellent product and with other Performance Lab products ‘it does what it says on the tin’”
“By far the best sleep support I have ever used. No next morning hangover or negative impact. Just bright eyed energy after sound sleep. Love the natural ingredients.”
Matt, you’re so right. That heavy ‘melatonin hangover’ is what lets a lot of sleep supplements down. So many will knock you out with a high dose, but steal your energy the next day. It’s why we went for a natural low-dose with our formula.
We also chose L-Tryptophan over 5-HTP for the same reason. A lot of sleep formulas go with 5-HTP because it crosses the blood-brain barrier easily. It’s great to start with, but over time, it can mess with your dopamine levels. So L-Tryptophan is the safer solution for long-term use.
Matt, thanks for taking time out to review our Sleep formula, it’s a favourite at PL HQ too!
Hey Erick, thank you for sharing your experience with us, we're sorry to hear it's not giving you the results you were hoping for yet.
A couple of things to try are:
1. Taking consistently, every night for 30 days. Since Sleep is made with natural, herbal ingredients, it works in a gentle, cumulative way. Some other sleep products we know of, do give you that instant knock-out effect, but this is often down to synthetic ingredients that will make you feel groggy the next day. Sleep gently builds, so the more consistent you are, the better the result.
2. If you've already been doing the above, you can safely increase the dosage to up to 4 capsules per night. It may be that you need a higher dose than others.
Let us know how you get on—we’re here to help and this is all useful feedback to hear from our community.
Hey Vanessa, this is really interesting - and great to hear!
Everybody's sleep habits are so different aren't they—I'm sure you've had these conversations with friends! Some struggle to get to sleep, some struggle to stay asleep, some have chattering brains that make all of the above a challenge.
It's great to hear it's helping you drift off back to sleep when you wake. That could be the muscle relaxing magnesium or the lemon balm extract that helps reduce anxiety and stress. Whatever it is, we're really glad it's working for you. Thanks so much for taking time out to write us this review.
Ah Jack, we're sorry to hear it's not working for you.
Sleep is a natural, herbal formula, so it tends to work gently and gradually, with benefits accumulating over time. Regarding the dosage, you can increase it to a maximum of 4 capsules per day if needed. It's disappointing to hear you weren't able to get back to sleep. We've heard from others that even though they may still wake, the magnesium has helped calm muscles and slow down their racing brain, which has made it easier to drift back off.
Thanks for giving us a try Jack. We really appreciate that and we're sorry you didn't feel any benefits but appreciate your honest review. If there's anything else we can help with, please do get in touch.
“I bought this supplement for my husband. He doesn’t have any problems falling asleep, but he struggles to stay asleep past 4am. And when he wakes, his brain switches on immediately, his heart rate rises and his feet get very restless and twitchy. It’s like his body thinks it’s time to get up.
Taking one capsule daily does seem to help him sleep for a little longer. He says that when he does wake, even if there’s not a huge improvement in length of time asleep, he feels calmer and more relaxed. So it’s possible to rest and get back to sleep, rather than his body kicking straight back into action and him being wide awake.”
This is really good to hear. Sometimes staying asleep is the bigger problem, in those cases magnesium may help.
The magnesium in our Sleep formula works by activating the parasympathetic branch of the nervous system, which is responsible for inducing calmness and relaxation. This could be the key to helping counter that wide-awake bodily feeling.
We've also updated our formula in line with new research. We've now included a research backed dose of lemon balm, as it has been shown to reduce anxiety and stress. Lots of people talk about that immediate 'on' switch in their brain or 'brain chattering'. Lemon balm boosts GABA which may help ‘calm’ that chatter.
If he needs to up his dose, taking up to 4 capsules per day is totally safe. Sleep is a natural, herbal formula, so it tends to work gently and gradually. It's non-habit forming, and there's no synthetic melatonin here, so he won't get that groggy feeling even on 4 capsules.
Thanks for taking time to write us this review, we hope his sleep continues to improve!
