Exhaustively researched, this is a model for small unit after-action recounting of increasingly distant events. Photos explore detail to a degree that amazes me. Writing is clear and flows well as it blends together both sides of a confusing battle now littered with conflicting recollections and incomplete documentation.

Not all the way through it yet, but the research seems very thorough and it's great to have such in-depth books on the less "centre stage" units and actions in the war.

The book appears very well researched. Following an introduction there are 12 chapters split by date covering the campaign from 5th September 1944 to 19 October 1944. There are 6 appendices giving information on the order of battle, AFV losses and casualties. There is information also in the appendices of the allied opponents. The book is very well detailed in the writing and there a large number of black and white photographs providing pictures of both allied and axis forces. The coloured images are of maps, documents and pictures of the areas involved. The maps add an understanding to the situation and are clear to read. This is an excellent book which covers the Kampfgruppe in detail. I would certainly recommend the book to anyone interested in this period of the war.
