Review of "Panzer DNA" 15.08.17. In this new title wisely the Authors sensibly explain in the introduction that the subject within is so broad and has so many possible variables that no single volume can cover the subject effectively and this is, without doubt, the case. But if you are new to the subject or perhaps just some short way up the 'enthusiast' tree then this title might suit your needs. However should you have every edition of every title ever published on the subject well ..... "You pays your money and you makes your choice!" The production quality is good and the brief-ish text will tell you pretty much what you need to know about the structure, operational factors and camouflage schemes and methods back then. There are no three views or colour profiles but there is a broad selection of black & white photographs, some well known, throughout the book. The authors have opted to use historic colour pictures to illustrate the text. These ''colour' photo's - some of which have been widely used due to the shortage of historically contemporary 'colour' images available - should understandably be treated with a bit more than a modicum of caution with regard to colour, shade and tone due to the development immaturity of the emulsions available in the early days of colour photography and subsequent gradual instability. Pretty obvious really, but often forgotten! Fortunately the authors explain that the colours & schemes - those as used during the war - were pretty much 'infinite' however they are not as succinct in their statement as the late Jim Woods whom wrote many years ago that realistically there is no such thing as "truly accurate colour" in the world of scale modelling. And how true he was! (Given that the book is aimed at the modelling 'fraternity' it is a tiny bit surprising that no modelling paint brands are cross referenced in any way but given the coming and going of paints and paint manufacturers there's probably logic in not including this. All in all, If you're wanting a compendium of the 'current state of play' of information and reference material for informed modelling of the WW2 Panzer force - and this book will likely be the 'go to' title for many for some years to come - then this may be the book for you. Given that the price from "Panzerwrecks" is pretty good and includes p&p the choice is yours., "You pays your money .....!" John Phillips

A very useful reference for modellers of any scale debunking the myths and legends of WW2 German camouflage and Unit Markings. I bought this from Panzerwrecks as I have had nothing but brilliant service at great prices along with good communication and prompt dispatch of my orders in robustly packaged parcels. I cannot recommend them enough, they set the standards that other websites should strive for !
