Concise with a good mix of strategy scale overview versus up close witness accounts allowing one to follow events at all levels. The photo selection is effective and well-captioned, likewise the overall layout and quality of the book is high. Great bit of work! I was surprised, in a way, how little of the book takes place in Vienna itself but, in truth, it's a mopping-up operation rather than a 'Battle of Berlin' level drama - the book portrays that desperate defensive weakness accurately.

This details the taking of Vienna by the Soviets in March-May 1945. Written by a very able military historian, Kamen Nevenkin who outlines the battle and the aftermath of the campaign which led to Germany losing vital regions and Russia consolidating its position in Eastern Europe which eventually led to the formation of the Iron Curtain. have taken one star off as I would have liked to have seen slightly better resolution photos but still very interesting. Good price.

ENGLISH The book „Bloody Vienna” contains very extensive and detailed reports of the last year of World War II in the regions of Western Hungary, Vienna and the East of Austria. Equipped with mostly large-format photos, some of which were previously unknown to me, this work is particularly recommended for those who are interested in history and AFV model building enthusiasts, who are focused on the last days of fighting on the Eastern Front. Another plus are the clear structure and the excellently researched content, which are easy to understand, even for readers with limited knowledge of English.
