Excellent photographs from the later stages of the Second World War on the Eastern Front.

Well curated range of images of the final collapse of the Germany Panzerwaffe in the east mixing material taken by the Wehrmacht in retreat with pictures taken by the Russian Army at its peak. The captions are informative and supportive.

If you enjoy the Panzerwrecks series of books then you won’t go wrong with this book as it follows in the same format. There are lots of new images some of which are worthy of mention,a British Humber armoured car and an Italian M13/40 tank abandoned around the Halbe forest are a couple of oddities. The best image for me was the Panzer l Ausf.B chassis mounting a Drilling 151 MG conversion, the book was worth buying for this photo alone. Great quality images backed up with good information on each subject, looking forward to their next release.

A quick read, as book is full of photos as intended. All the photos were unseen before to me. Well worth the purchase price

This book ranks up there for me with the best for its genre. All images I personally haven’t seen before. Great quality images and a feast for the armour geeks.

Ostfront Panzers was a pleasant surprise. It generally follows the same concept as Panzer Wrecks. The level of documentation is generally high with a identification of unit and location in most cases. Furthermore, the authors seems to know their stuff in terms of identifying not only the type, but also production period and factory, where relevant. I have not seen any of the pictures before, so this is indeed a source of new information, especially for the modeler. There are some rare subjects such as the VOMAG 7 or 660 with 88 mm Flak 36, and some versions not seen so often elsewhere, such as the very photo shy StuG IV. Alexey Stefanov has provided some convincing artwork very much in the same style as Philip Rodna, Only drawback is the quality of the photos, which mostly originate from Soviet archives and thus not in same quality as seen elsewhere. Still, most pictures are very acceptable, and what they lack in quality, they certainly make up for in rarity. Highly recommended for all modelers interested in this period and subjects.
