“This is a useful book, having all variants of the winter combat clothing under one roof. The two things that make it more than just another reference are i) further contemporary images of the liebermuster camouflage clothing being worn by fighting units prior to the war's end, and ii) dated images of the SS spring/white combat clothing along with a positive statement to the effect that no other versions , i.e. autumn/white, were available until later in 1943; it being impossible to tell from black & white images which is which unless there are variations in manufacturing detail. This is the stuff of life to the figure painter, not just because of confidence in the detail, but the ability to wave it under the nose of the naysayers and rivet counters who never produce anything themselves but carp about those who do! My only negative comment concerns the outline drawings which are not as good as, for instance, the old Mollo books, otherwise, tip-top!”
