The 22nd volume in the Panzerwrecks series of books continues the tried and true formula introduced by this series of providing high resolution photographs of vehicles, mostly in a knocked-out or abandoned state, printed as, mostly, full-page format images. Lee Archer has, once again, managed to track down a veritable treasure trove of hitherto mostly unknown images making Panzerwrecks 22 yet another winner in this highly-acclaimed series of books. The inclusion of colour plates by Felipe Rodna, now a regular feature in this series, only help to bring the series to new heights. The colour plates, printed as diptychs with their supporting photographs for comparison and direct reference, are the only way to go -- and show, once more, the attention to detail which has served to make this series so popular among its audience. Panzerwrecks 22 is another welcome addition to this series, and makes one only look forward to further volumes in Mr. Archer's ever-growing Panzerwrecks opus. Hopefully too, this is not the last foray of Panzerwrecks into the desert theatre of war, since this first effort is a welcome diversion from the usual "war in Europe" subject matter and as such, was refreshing and "new". Man does not live by Panthers and Tigers alone; and that being said, the collection of vehicles covered in Panzerwrecks 22 is highly interesting indeed! Not only German vehicles are to be found in this volume, but also many captured British & American vehicles pressed into Axis service also fill its pages. So too, Italian vehicles are represented, along with the expected collection of German types. This book is most definitely a worthwhile addition to almost any armour enthusiast's library and I have no reservation in giving it the highest recommendation possible.

In this, the latest issue in the Panzerwrecks series, the team have found some fantastic photos of some real rarities. I was pleasantly surprised at the diversity of the vehicles, and also the number of captured vehicles shown. The superb colour artwork is the icing on the cake. Thoroughly recommended.

Panzerwrecks Vol.22 is the first in the series that covers the North African Campaign. Lee Archer has assembled a superb collection of photographs of a wide range of German, Italian and captured Allied AFV’s. The very informative text and superb artwork cap off another wonderful book for anyone interested in this campaign. Finally, Panzerwrecks customer service is excellent.

Panzerwrecks still manage to keep the high standards of the series and make the reader look forward to upcoming releases. Whoever is interesting in the war the Afrika-Korps fought will be quite happy with this release.
