I was surprised that there were so few pictures of Mark III& IV tanks and no pics of Italian armour.

Hi Greg. I made a concious decision not to include lots of Panzer III & IV photos. Likewise Italian armour because the focus of the book, as the name implies, is AFVs that were in German use.

Another excellent book in the series. Many new (to me) photos with informative captions. The colour plates capture to look of their subjects very well.

Good features on the Marder and allied vehicles in use by the Afrika Korps. Could have done without the colour illustrations that mirrored some of the photos.

I'll preface this review by stating I'm primarily interested in the North African theater and secondly in pics of Panzer IV F2's & G's, of which there are some great ones in this book. There are a lot of other types shown: Panzer III's, 8-wheeled armored cars, various beutepanzer types, many panzerjager 38(t)s, some half-tracks, Panzer II's, Panzerjager I's, a good bunch of the Lorraine Schlepper. And others! To me, this is a great buy!

The 22nd volume in the Panzerwrecks series of books continues the tried and true formula introduced by this series of providing high resolution photographs of vehicles, mostly in a knocked-out or abandoned state, printed as, mostly, full-page format images. Lee Archer has, once again, managed to track down a veritable treasure trove of hitherto mostly unknown images making Panzerwrecks 22 yet another winner in this highly-acclaimed series of books. The inclusion of colour plates by Felipe Rodna, now a regular feature in this series, only help to bring the series to new heights. The colour plates, printed as diptychs with their supporting photographs for comparison and direct reference, are the only way to go -- and show, once more, the attention to detail which has served to make this series so popular among its audience. Panzerwrecks 22 is another welcome addition to this series, and makes one only look forward to further volumes in Mr. Archer's ever-growing Panzerwrecks opus. Hopefully too, this is not the last foray of Panzerwrecks into the desert theatre of war, since this first effort is a welcome diversion from the usual "war in Europe" subject matter and as such, was refreshing and "new". Man does not live by Panthers and Tigers alone; and that being said, the collection of vehicles covered in Panzerwrecks 22 is highly interesting indeed! Not only German vehicles are to be found in this volume, but also many captured British & American vehicles pressed into Axis service also fill its pages. So too, Italian vehicles are represented, along with the expected collection of German types. This book is most definitely a worthwhile addition to almost any armour enthusiast's library and I have no reservation in giving it the highest recommendation possible.
