Sorry about the delay in posting this review but the book was bought for me as a birthday present and I have just received it. It is everything I hoped for. The perfect companion for my winter project (Takoms kit with interior). This one book is all the reference anyone would need tho build a kit of the King Tiger.

Superb book documenting a modelling project of the highest standard. The book contains many detailed photos of the build in progress and of the completed model; the photos covering details of an actual Tiger II are also superb. In all, a truly inspirational book.

Doubtless this is an impressive book! Actually I believe it is probably the best modelling book I have ever acquired (and my library is not a small one after more than 30 years of modelling). I followed the work of David Parker on Trumpeter's 1/16 Tiger II when it was first published in AFV Modeller magazine so I was aware of the titanic task he faced then and the astonishing results he achieved in the end, but to witness the whole process first hand through the excellent photos and comments is really a priceless experience. I decided to get the book after the releasing of Meng's 1/35 model of the Tiger II. I think that every fan of German tanks of WWII will be pleased with this model especially if, as is my case, you are trying to build it with the interiors. And, what can I say? Even the kit instructions follow the sequence of this book! I've been checking the kit's provided parts and compared them with those David mostly scratch build years ago and the level of accuracy for a 1/35 kit is spectacular. Obviously there is always room for improvement, we are modellers after all and usually cannot resist the temptation, but the truth is that you can construct a very good replica of the real thing practically out of the box. Returning to the book, the structure is rather impeccable. First, the different phases of the laborious process of construction and painting are detailed step by step. All the photographs have proper explanations regarding the technical finality of every single part of the tank. Actually, as you go ahead with the book you get the impression of being part of an advanced engineering course and, eventually, you became familiar with the actual function of those myriad pieces that were part of a real Tiger II even if you are not an expert in mechanics (as is my case). The final set of photos of this section (which extends to more than the first half of the book) almost brings you to tears when, finally, you are able to contemplate the finished model in all its majestic dimension. Then comes a shorter section named "reference archive" that includes WWII photos of Tigers and a full set depicting the original configuration of the interiors. After that, an exhaustive section follows, devoted to preserved authentic Tiger II tanks with hundreds of photograph both of inside and outside the beast. Needless to say how helpful this photographs (and the explanations) are if you are trying to build your own kit, although after digesting the first part of the book, as I said before, you probably will have no need to check any more references regarding this particular tank during the rest of your life. Finally there comes a little appendix with very useful diagrams and a list of the changes in the tank configuration during its production. The only "but" could be the size of the book. Maybe it could have been published in two parts to make it a bit more manageable, especially if you want to keep it at hand while you are working on your model. You would probably need a stand to hold this real bible on the Tiger II. Anyway this has nothing to do with the contents of the book which are truly astonishing, monumental. I would recommend it heartily to any one who is interested not only in WWII tanks but in modelling in general as an example of patience, precision and achievement. David

I bought the Trumpeter 1/16 Jagdtiger late last year. The kit instructions are good but there is almost no guidance on painting the interior. I ordered Super king to assist me in building the Jagdtiger and was so favourably impressed with it that I have now also bought the Trumpeter 1/16 King tiger. The book is so much more than just a painting guide and is an excellent read even if you don't have the kit. Worth every penny of the asking price.
