Excellent book, as a beginner to the world of AFV scalemodelling it was an eye opener to learn that the museums and the model box art/instructions don't always get the colours right, so its a great insight into this world. Looks great on the coffee table too.

Not a book which you will read cover to cover BUT a superb reference for anyone interested in WW2 military vehicles. Period colour photographs are “the icing on the cake” for the modeller.

This is a very interesting book covering a very complex subject. My interest in first section covering German armour. The book is missing a loose colour chart that was supplied with the first edition of this book. The colour chips shown in the book are printed photographs of actual RAL standards. AK say that the colour printing process is to a controlled standard making colours as accurate as possible. All in all a very interesting book covering a challenging and confusing subject. As the war progressed resources became scare and this created shortages of pigments used in paint manufacture. A lot of German armour was also painted/sprayed in the field and this lead to a great variation in colours that were not strictly to the RAL standard. This book is a good buy for modeller, war gamers and those interested in the colour of armour during WWII.
