You cannot beat walking and exploring without electronics.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great compass. The bright orange bezel is grippy and turns easily and the magnetic declination adjustment a much appreciated practical feature. However the sighting window through the mirror is too small, especially when compared to the far superior Suunto MC-2G. The scale lanyard is sadly just a gimmick that doesn't work well and is far too short, even just as a lanyard. All other features on the compass are good- romers, gripping feet, clear dial, however despite actually having a magnifier (a bonus) it is too small. The accompanying slope card is good, but you can buy one for a couple of quid anyway. Buy the Suunto, it is a better compass

In most places this is an excellent compass, I would have preferred North South East and West letters on the battling to be in a different colour so they stand out more.

Purchased this to replace my older model, so how lost it, then found it but not with the new compass, that said it is a good buy and I like the little touches like the mini screwdriver to adjust declination, also found the scale on the lanyard useful for working out distances based no Nasmiths rule, the additional contour card is useful if one is no ofay with working out contour steepness, the mirror is larger too and so gives additional view when doing back bearings or with your budy in front when the weather deteriorates or the Moores are featureless and make it hard to navigate due to undulating terrain.

This compass is one of the best I ever bought. Accurate, strong and does what it says on the tin.
