“The course itself is very easy to get through. However, the feedback that I would give is that descriptions of signs is often not sufficient instruction for a non-signer to acquire proper form and production of signs. Videos or pictures showing movement and hand shapes is most necessary. In addition to this, at the end of the course it is stated that the learner is now at a higher level of BSL, and can in fact teach sign language, or interpret. This is hardly accurate as someone with little or no knowledge of BSL can pass the online course, but actual production and fluency will not be anywhere near a level to teach or interpret. I think the course should exercise caution when stating such things to learners who have no knowledge of the deaf community, and sign language norms. I would never want to see someone of poor fluency teaching children sign, or teaching deaf children other subjects, or interpreting complex messages in any setting.”

“I've done both level 3 and 4 in British sign language and I really loved the course there was so much info and the end of module test were brilliant. I highly recommend oplex careers. I received my certificates and they are very good quality and proud I have them.”

“The extended course material was blocked and I waited two months for it to be fixed after three attempted phone calls and several emails. Each extended module asks you to complete a mini exam but it’s not available. I took the practice exams a few times which I then realised were the module mini exams but on an entirely different page with no directions to do this. Some of the questions were irrelevant “ what was the title of module 5?”. One final exam question described a sign and asked what it meant but I had been taught it was a different sign with my level 3 with tutor so some is based on dialect. I got a higher distinction but a frustrating process”
