“Lovely materials! But there were no 101 tutorials to get started with calligraphy. My husband bought me an adult colouring book so I can make use of the markers.”

“This was my least favorite unfortunately. It didn’t feel as real calligraphy (with the fancy pens and ink). It feels like I could’ve bought these markers for pretty cheap in a ‘dollar store’. The other boxes all have the high quality feel materials, and markers just aren’t doing that for me. I do like it that you tried to work with a different style than just drawing/painting, just like the lino box.”

With this edition we teamed up with Tombow to provide the products and tutorials to be able to create the full calligraphy experience. These markers are a modern twist on the old age ink and pen and can be used for many more uses than just calligraphy! We completely appreciate that not every box will suit all tastes so we hope that our other boxes will be more suitable for you. “Unfortunately this was a bit of a disappointment. Yes, the pens are nice, but the tutorials for how to use them weren't brilliant, because the tutorials related to calligraphy were just watching someone else create a piece that was already in the magazine. Something around how to get started in calligraphy or even some practice alphabets to copy would have been really helpful. I'm not sure this review is even going to make a difference since I've emailed them about how awful their video tutorials are now and they didn't even respond.”

“I love getting these boxes every quarter! This box, as always, was perfect. The magazine is always so helpful with loads of tutorials, and there was a sketchbook with plenty of paper and loads of calligraphy materials in different colours. It contains everything you need to get started with calligraphy. Cannot recommend highly enough!”

“This was my first Artful box and I was impressed with the quality of the contents and amount of supplies given. I wasn't as good at the calligraphy side of things (appalling really) but I do love the markers and have been trying to get better. I love the magazine which has all sorts of ideas and techniques to try. Overall, I was very happy with the box!”
