“Bought these many times before and they have always had cardboard inserts inserts in the toe box to keep the shape while in storage however these did not.
Delivered flat as a pancake.”
“Retiring beloved Timp 3 after 680 kms and replacing with 'similar' model Lone Peak 6 as Timp 3 is scarce.
Wisdom would suggest trying whichever shoe before buying, but I hoped one brand would size equally. Sadly the Lone Peak with light weight ripstop material does not offer the same foot hugging flex support of the Timp 3. Both offer a 'regular' toe box which I find generously comfortable with Altra although my forefoot is just not sufficiently supported for fairly technical coastal running. Twisting and switching direction left me with lateral movement within the forefoot area and my efforts to tighten laces seemed inappropriate as the forefoot material contorted. My conclusion has left me thinking there is variance within some Altra model sizes. Historically I run on EU44 / UK 9 but buying the Timp 3's in a local run shop, they were perfect in UK 9.5 - The Lone Peak however feels a whole size too big. I find myself hunting around for another Timp 3 but am worried about fit now. As I say, it pays to try 'any' shoe before purchase and I've never been so contented as with the Timp 3....zero drop.... amazing cushioning etc. Any response is welcome.”
“I’ve worn Altra shoes before, but never bought any of their trail shoes.
The Lone Peak 6 is a banger of a shoe - wore them for 2 long, steep hikes in the Peak District - they were comfortable and sturdy with great grip.
Couldn’t be happier with them.”
“I have rheumatoid arthritis in my feet and need an orthotic to support them and this wider/deeper shoe is the most comfortable shoe I've had for a long time with plenty of room for my orthotic and my feet even when running...posted a PB on my first wear. Will look at their walking boots now for walking the dog in the local woods.”
