Boots were really comfortable out the box & the grip is awesome. Unfortunately after 5 days the left boot started leaking. Returned boots to Northern runner & boots were promptly replaced & came direct from Inov8. They even upgraded the boots to v2 version. Would definitely recommend these boots & Northern Runner.

Very impressed with these as a walking boot. I DID do some experimental running in them and they were OK, but that's not what I bought them for. As a fell runner, I tend to favour lightweight walking boots where others wear heavier ones. I already have the Roclite 345 and wanted something with a tad more ankle/lateral support. Aesthetically the black 400's are not exactly much to look at. If I'd had more time before my trip I may have looked elsewhere on that basis, but I know the Roclite former suits me so I went for it. These were comfortable straight out the box and I have just returned from an excellent week munroe bagging in the Highlands where they have performed well in wet/dry conditions and a fair bit of snow in the gulleys and on north facing slopes. These boots fit my Kahtoola MicroSpikes, but I didn't have to use them this trip. The Roclite Pro G 400's are obviously not a rigid snow boot, but they coped. As with all Gore-tex lined boots they can feel sweaty at times and I was initially worried about developing "trench foot", but it didn't happen. Very happy with these. Would buy again.

I'm a fan of Innov8's trail and fell shoes. So, despite being a loyal Salomon hiking boot wearer for many years, decided that it was time for a change. I'm largely southern UK based so these boots are possibly overkill but ticked all my boxes. I wanted lightweight (and these are lighter than my already lightweight Salomons), hard wearing (I have graphene outsole and midsole on my trail shoes so already a convert) and with a more durable upper (the lace hooks on my Salomon's have worn through the upper on the opposite boot on my last two pairs where they catch). I liked the idea of the ceramic material and the lack of overlays. Two long walks in, it's still early days and the crazy hot summer means limited chances to test them out in more challenging conditions for the foreseeable future, but they were comfortable out of the box and coped well with soft surrey sand, tree roots, mossy rocks and soft ground. After reading reviews which suggested sizing issues for some people, I stuck with the extra half size that I'd usually go for in running shoes and, even with thick socks, they were perfect. They lace well and these are the first boots that I've ever had where the top laces snuggly to the ankle without being constricting rather than leaving a wide gap for debris to drop into. Unhooking the laces also leaves a wide enough gap for the shoe to be easily taken off or put on without the need for tugging on a heel loop. They are expensive, but I've had 500 miles out of my previous boots and, from my experience of graphene trail shoes, these might well go 750 or more. They are also starting to appear on sale at reputable places like Northern Runner which tipped the balance for me. My only slight issue is that as Henry Ford said, "you can have any colour you like, as long as it's black!"

I'm a size 9, and as these boots come a half size small I decided on size 10. After a week they have moulded to a very nice fit. Plenty of width for toes, which feels nice. They don't feel as though they would ever become tight as other boots have. So far, so good.
