“As an older runner with foot problems, I thought I'd give these more 'natural' shoes (wide toe box, balanced cushioning) a try. So far, as an experiment of one, these seem to be doing the trick. The only downside is, for the Shropshire hills and woods, a gore-tex insert would have been nice.”
“I have run in minimalist shoes (Vivobarefoot mostly) for years. Lately though I've been doing more road miles and suffering from shin pain and very fatigued calves. I bought these to soften the impact. These have been a revelation. I can still run naturally, landing forefoot first thanks to the zero-drop and wide toe box but the shin pain and fatigued calves are gone. These seem to offer the best both worlds between conventional cushioned shoes and "barefoot" shoes. I can run further more comfortably, and recover sooner between runs.
I've used these on roads and trails and they perform well on both. I've not felt the need to put in the stone guards yet, they seem to offer ample foot protection without, but nice to have them just in case.”
“A great trail running shoe, its very light and comfy and the wide toe box its a great feature will be definitely getting another pair and would recommend them to anyone in my opinion you can't go wrong for the price aswell”
“Love Altra shoes and the superior 4.5 continue to impress. Great all round shoe, I find that they can cope with pavements when you’re hopping between trails. There are more cushioned shoes out there but these work a treat and cope with big miles just as well as the sort runs. I’m usually a 11.5 and these fit true to that size. I’d definitely recommend them.”
“Ive been using Altras for years now, they really suit me despite being a classic overpronator!
The 4.5 version is true to size, just enough cushioning and lightweight. Very happy with them.
Fab service from Northern Runner too”
