It is like someone washed my favourite socks on a high setting and they've shrunk. I would rate these as on the poor side of acceptable as I very nearly sent them back but decided to stick with them. I have been a big fan of Altra shoes but getting more frustrated with design changes. I would rate my previous Timps as the most comfortable shoes I've had but these have a very tight foot cavity and also seem to be slightly smaller on length. Hence the analogy of shrunk socks! At the same time I bought a pair of Topo Terraventures which are very comfortable and appear to be better made. Altra you need to stop messing with your shoes!

Bought them for Camino & South West Coast Path. Very comfortable and look great. A bit tighter than road running shoes which takes some getting used to. But so far a very wise choice.

Excellent trail shoe with good cushioning. Altra design of zero drop and foot shape toe box works well after getting used to. Timp 2 is very light and easy to wear. Extra cushioning makes shoe usable on road and trail.

Having put around 45 miles in them now, I really like this shoe. It took about 15 miles to break-in where the ride became a little softer. However, for 29mm of cushion, I would say these shoes have a surprisingly firm feel. This isn't a bad thing, and my feet still felt comfortable and protected after a 30-mile run. If you like pillow-y cushion then this probably isn't the shoe for you, but it is thick enough for comfort without omitting ground-feel entirely. The grip is great, although I haven't tested in the wet. They are also versatile enough to give good traction on trails while being comfortable on the roads which sets them apart from many trail shoes whose tread is too sticky or aggressive for comfort on roads. This is a real plus if you do not have the luck to live right at a trail-head. From someone who doesn't have particularly wide feet, I have found the fit to be good. This was a concern of mine as I was worried that this brand catered for large feet only. Instead, I found I can get a good snug fit in the midfoot and heel so I feel stable and secure in the shoe. This gives me confidence on trails. The roomy toebox delivers as promised and from my one long run in them so far I did not have sore toes or toenails at the end. So far, I would definitely recommend them.

I am a complete Altra convert and have been for a couple of years. The foot-shape and zero drop make for a comfortable ride. I'm not a fast runner, but I do like to run a reasonable distance. The TIMP 2 are my favourite Altra shoes yet. They are comfortable, but still responsive. The sole manages to give a good level of protection as well as feel on trails, which is impressive. I have mostly run hard pack trail and cinder paths, where they provide a good level of grip and responsiveness. I guess they might not feel so assured in really wet and muddy conditions on the fell-side, but I have yet to try. They handle the road well too. They're good for both running and walking. I am very impressed with the TIMP 2! Northern Runner was excellent as always - quick response and rapid delivery. NR has great service, so you can buy with confidence. I wouldn't shop anywhere else!
