These shoes are my husband’s ‘go to’ trainers. They support his wide foot perfectly and allow room for his feet to spread naturally, as they should. He adores them. The Vibram sole is terrific too and grips everything. I also run in them. I’ve given five stars because they are so far, so perfect. However, I hope they don’t go the same way as their predecessors - an earlier incarnation of the MT shoe. The problem with that one is that the upper starts to deteriorate too quickly. I continue to run in mine, as the sole is epic, but I have a few holes and gaps in the upper which could be dealt with by Altra. That said, I’d still give 4 out of 5 because they are such a brilliant show in EVERY other respect. Won’t wear much else now.

Feels lightweight and roomy. The toe box is always good leaving the foot in a natural position. Good grip, and with zero drop feels comfortable and natural when running.

These are great shoes but they are not the size they claim to be. ALL my shoes are 9.5 (Eur 44) yet these are too small. Unfortunately you can't tell this until you run in them properly. If you do get these buy half-a-size bigger than usual

I'm on my 3rd pair of Lone Peaks but wanted something with a bit more grip for the current muddy conditions. The lugs are only 6mm, maybe 1 or 2mm nore than Lone peak (?) but the grip is significantly better. Also lighter and less cushioned. They are a narrower fit too but still plenty of room in the toe box. The only thing I'm not sure about is the drain holes in the sole. The uppers seem to be very free draining anyway and the holes on the sole let water in too, so if you are running on damp ground you get a cold wet feeling when the uppers are still dry.

I like these shoes, but they do feel a bit too lightweight for me, and a bit less cushioned than I would like. Also, I don't like the lacing system. As with my Altra road shoes, my wide feet required me to re-lace the shoes, starting from one hole back and keeping the frontlacing a little loose - once this was done, I found the laces a little short although the fit was comfortable. I found the zero drop approach good, but I did find I would have liked a little more cushioning under the balls of my feet. I guess cushioning here was kept down so you could "feel" the trail under you - I did, but a little more than I would have liked. Once again, the shoes feel very lightweight, so I question how durable they will turn out to be (ask me again in around 500 miles of trail - yes, I know this is over the recommended distance). Overall, a nice comfortable shoe. Possibly a bit too lightweight for me. Altra, PLEASE make wide fittings!
