“Very comfortable for recovery runs. I switch between these and the Escalante 2 for interval/recovery runs and the combination keeps me injury free. Altra shoes are brilliant for foot health and strength and I can't recommend them enough to runners of any level. Sizing is bang on, i'm a UK8 and these are true to size with a nice roomy toe box for splaying your toes.”
“I've been looking for a pair wide enough for months. Other Altras were not doing the truck and I tried about 7 other brands all supposed to be for wide feet. I am a minimalist runner so need wide you're box but also the balls of my feet need the space, finally these were great. Feel to be like a good part for training and marathons, long runs and quick runs. All round very pleased. They don't look too bad either”
“Bought these for doing a half marathon and delighted from the first moment I put them on. Very comfortable and supportive. Altra have a big toe box which works well to allow for toe spread which they will on a long run. Look very stylish too.”
“Altra Torin 4.0 out of the box:
Just got hold of the new version of the Torin, the 4.0. Out of the box and went for a 14 mile trot round town. Running mostly on asphalt and undulating course. I'm also a proud owner of the previous version the 3.5 with which I’ve covered nearly 700 miles in the last 12 months or so, and I still use them when I'm in Bavaria, so quite fresh comparison:
The 4.0 feel a lot tighter/cosier (depending whether you like that feeling or not). I don't think that's just the out of the box effect. Could be this year’s Altra design platform, as I’ve had the same feeling with the Kings 2.0 vs KingMT 1.5 (scroll down for an earlier post on that subject) Objectively, the eyelet design and the laces are very different in the Torin 4.0 . There are not only more eyelets, there is a very prominent separation of inside and outside rows of interchanging eyelets, which tie down the foot miles better than the previous version. The laces themselves are probably my guilty pleasure, as their smaller width makes it far easier to tighten and far more difficult to untie, which is the biggest niggle I had with the 3.5. I can’t remember a run longer than a couple of miles where I didn't have to stop and do my laces at least once…
In the front, the toe guard is further extended, round the toes, which I think will be more useful than it sounds when we get to the ultrarunning season (when???).

“Best running shoes I have ever run in! I’m already an Altra convert, and have had a few previous incarnations of the Torin; a shoe I already like has taken a huge leap, its super comfortable and really light.”
