Rockin' runners, chewing up the gravel mile after mile. These are perfect for trail running, lightweight, cool, comfy and tractor like grip.

Admittedly, I am a fan of Topos - they simply suit me. I appreciate the wide, rounded toe box and how this is complemented by a narrower mid-foot and heel fitting - so, whilst toes have a comfortable amount of freedom, the shoe is securely held onto the foot (especially important when traversing steeper slopes). With the Terraventure 2, I also like the presence of a rock-plate - as I usually access broken trails and exposed flints, etc. I find the low, 3mm, drop comfortable. The light weight is good and I think the construction quality to be high. In this model, I also like the use of red - it makes for something cheerful! Everything positive - nothing negative.

It's always a risk trying a new running shoe brand but the Topo Terraventures are superb. Having got frustrated with Altra changing their designs I needed to try something else. These are wide and very comfortable with good cushioning and a more aggressive tread which is probably better suited to UK trails and mud. They strike me as being more robust than Altras so I expect them to last longer. Sorry Altra but you need to up your game!

I bought a pair of Topo Terraventure 2s to replace Altra Lone Peak 4s that I used for trail walking. The fit of the Altras was excellent, but the cushioning collapsed and I found the shoes a bit slippy if I wasn’t careful how I placed my feet when descending steep grassy slopes. Comparing insoles both the Altras and the Topos have toe boxes of similar width (this was important to me) but slightly different shape. So far I have only had two short walks in the Topos. I have not yet found it easy to get the lace tension just right and find the fit around the heel a bit insecure. I don’t think I am getting heel lift, just an insecure feeling that might be caused by the slack fit on the side of my heels below the ankle bones. Although I get a bit less feed-back through the soles of the Topos than the Altras this is not a problem, and I expect they will be secure on steep slopes.

I have run 95miles in these shoes so far-20 miles being the longest run. These are the first Topo shoes I’ve bought.I think they strike a good balance with regard to cushioning, responsiveness and heel to toe drop. They are rugged but light.I very much like the wide toe box and snug heel fit. The size 10 was perfect for me,comparable with the sizing of Salomons sense ride ,sometimes I go to 10.5 in trail shoes. They have effectively protected my feet and coped admirably through a variety of trail surfaces although they are a little slippy on wet road. The drainage ports seem to work as they do dry quickly after being repeatedly submerged in icy water.Overall I would recommend the terraventure 2 and will try the ultraventure when budget allows
