“Bought as a replacement for my existing pair as Scott has stopped making this 'model' of shoe. Absolutely love the wider toebox which is great for my hobbit feet, comfy, grippy. Fab trail shoe, went up half a size. Great service from Northern Runner too.”
“There is a more full and informative review on Northern Runner; this is just a quick take on what these Kinabalu supertrac's feel like compared to other "trail" shoes I've tried. Which to be honest isn't many. Any trail shoes I've tried in recent years have seemed hopeless on wet tarmac or felt too low in the heel because of the toe/heel drop compared to my road shoes.
But these Kinabalu's seem to hit the spot. Not long back from a run through thick mud, woodland track and wet road. Perfect. With the 8 mm toe drop they don't feel any different to the road shoes, except grippier when the surfaces get muddier and wetter.
You might not choose to run 10k on road in them, but as far as I can judge there's no reason why you shouldn't. I found the cushioning to be ok on the road sections.
Overall, I like these Kinabalu Supertracs.
I take size 6 in saucony, but 5.5 was the equivalent in these. And, with the inner sole removed, I could fit my orthotics in no problem.”
“Really nice structure and grips, however quite a bulky shoe. Performed well on trails and muddy paths. Didn’t perform so well in grass trails. Shoe moves a lot in the foot when running on a camber giving a feeling of insecurity. Will persevere but not loving the shoe if I’m honest.”
