“Second pair of Altra Instincts I've had. Love the zero drop and the wide toe box. Webbing split on the first pair after around 4 months of use (around 25 miles per week) - probably half a size too small. Otherwise all good, and great service from Northern Runner.”
“First time I've tried Altra shoes, after lots of foot/ankle problems I decided to give them a go. Took me about 8-10 days to get used to the zero drop but I'm really impressed with the shoes and how they feel. I'm not convinced by soft bouncy shoes and 'cushy' shoes. I sized up half a size for a perfect fit I've now run about 150 miles on them and it probably took 80 miles to break them in, they felt quite firm at first but now they feel great. I'd have given them 5 stars but I can see that the material on the medial side under the arch of the midsole is starting to wear and develop a hole which is a shame. I'd definitely buy Altra again and I've no intention of going back to traditional shoes. I can comfortably cover 80-90 miles per week in them with no problems.”
“Big disappointment. Thought I would try these having worn Hokas for my last two pairs of running shoes. Major quality issues on the upper. Developed a rip in the arch area having only had them a few weeks. Totally unacceptable. Its a shame as they provided a very smooth comfortable ride. Back to Hokas for me. Altra you need to sort this out!”
“Really excellent shoe... I have quite wide feet so it's great to find one that's actually foot shaped. The zero drop also helps improve running style. Very impressed”
“I’m not really a road runner, more fells and trails. I bought these shoes as most of my fell shoes have low drops of only a few mm’s. They’re feel light, love the open toe box of the alltras too and there’s also sufficient cushioning for a comfy ride that also feels responsive without the shoes making you feel like you’re running over blancmange!!”
“These are still the most comfortable Altra. I much prefer these to the instinct 4 as they have more mid sole cushioning so I was delighted to pick them up at half price.”
