“Very comfortable, fits my feet perfectly. May take some people time to adjust to the zero-drop, but definitely encourages better running form.
'Bowling-shoe' look may not be to everyone's taste.”
“I was looking for a zero drop shoe with some cushioning to rotate with my vivobarefoots. These are great... nice wide toe box and bouncy sole. Check sizing though, they come up small... I needed a 44 in the Altra versus 42 with my Vivos”
“Very light and extremely comfortable with nice wide toe box only run about 10 miles in them so far but shaping up well. Great for me as i have run in five fingers but being 46 wanted something more forgiving!! Rotating the altras with nike frees hopefully wear them for the Brighton half in February.”
“I have ran in Altra shoes since they first arrived in the UK, and have happily trod hundreds of miles in several pairs of Lone Peaks and Torins. What I needed however was a shoe that was light and fast, and that I would use for races up to half marathon distance.
The One2 is very light, and it is very fast. Altra have the famous foot shaped toe box, and zero drop. As I am now used to these features in other Altra products, I struggle to run in anything else.
The build is fairly unique, and once you get past the overall 'bowling shoe' aesthetics, you're left with a light shoe with quite a decent amount of cushion. The upper is fairly minimal, and the laces slightly off-set, for one reason or another, i'm not yet to discover. The material is pretty pliable, and the shoe is immensely comfortable once it's on, owing in part to the very soft material inside.
The grooves are deep underneath, and the shoe runs very springy. One thing I have noticed with the grooves is it does tend to collect stones, although I've never noticed this when actually running.
The shoe reminds me of the original Saucony Kinvara, especially the feel underfoot, they both have the same slipper-like quality. Altra trumping Saucony on the comfort plushness owing to it's foot shaped toe box.
One concern I do have is it's life span, thus far all my Altra's have lasted 600 miles, and even then they were relegated to walking shoes (despite the uppers blowing up). I feel that the One2 may be lucky to get to 250 miles, and unless you chance upon them in a sale that can result in a fairly high cost of pounds per miles.
Saying that, I have so far enjoyed wearing them on short 'fast' runs, on both pavement and dry trail. I intend to use them on speedier training runs, and for races up to half marathon. Although I have no doubt they would do well for a full marathon distance - but would recommend rotating them to prolong their life.”
“Great multi-purpose shoe purchased to replace an old pair of 1000+ mile Hoka Stinsons. Main benefits include light and fast, comfortable, flexible, zero drop and wide toe box. Already used for training, 5K races (looking to do much longer distances in near future), track, trail and in gym, and they performed brilliantly on all surfaces. They are not a cheap shoe, but are comparable in price to Hokas Clifton (which I still use for training), and not much different in terms of ride quality. They appear well made, but my concern would be that the sole may wear quickly - only time will tell.”
