“Great shoes for soft ground. They size up relatively large for Precision Fit. For example, for Inov8 X-Talon I wear a half size higher than normal to compensate for the Precision Fit. But with these Mudclaws I found that that wasn't necessary.”
“A very aggressive rubber tread with a robust upper ideal for the hills. Unless your feet are narrow go for the standard fit. Fit seems quite generous so no need to go a 1/2 size up.”
“I was after some new shoes for winter xc/trail/fell races and thought I'd give theses a try as a lot of people had said they were good and I'd been wearing some TrailRocs all spring/summer (now worn out) and they were good. Got them a week before a fell race on Ilkley moor; took them out a few times in the woods near home and they were really grippy on mud and roots and not too bad on more hard-packed stuff.
They were perfect for Ilkley moor race - there's a lot of bogs/rocky bits/sheep tracks etc and they didn't slip once (although went waist deep in a bog!).
They feel really sturdier and the uppers feel more solid than the TrailRocs which made me more confident in them for more challenging terrain.
I normally wear UK11.5 - 12 in running shoes and bought both but 11.5s were perrfect.”
“Great shoes - my first pair of inov8s. Found them much more comfortable than Salomons (not a fan of the quick lace system) although it is down to personal preference of course. They are little lower round the ankle than the fellraisers - potential less support and more possibility of rolling an ankle but I think that it is more comfortable when contouring. I think that they do come up quite big, have got the same size as my other running shoes but there seems to be a lot more room at the front. however I have stuck with them instead of going down a size and no problems. Don't notice them when they're on my feet! Great for my first Mountain Marathon, excellent grip and 2 days with wet feet and no blisters. Quite expensive shoes but pretty good price here. Hoping they'll last a long time!”
