“Great shoes, love the width. However, although long enough, I would have preferred a little more height for my toes, for my larger foot. Other foot was fine. It might be an idea to go up half a size.
Definitely recommended though, if you want zero-drop shoes with some cushioning, and room for your toes to spread.”
“I'm long time minimalist runner and was looking for new long distance running shoe. Decided to try Altras.
I'm impressed with Instinc 3.0, the running feel a lot more minimalistic than I expected. Comparable to Merrell Trail Glove, expect softer, which is exactly what I was looking for.
Build quality is great too.
Recommended.”
“I've do a lot of running, and in spite of buying loads of shoes that claim to be for wide feet, this is the first pair of shoes i've ever had that actually fits a wide foot, because of it's wide toe box.
I've previously tried other wide fit shoes from other brands, but i've always found that they narrow in the toe area and pinch the side of my small toe and/or push my big toe in slightly. These allow your foot to expand fully whilst still feeling that your held firmly in the shoe (i.e. not too loose on top).
I would add that although i have a wide mid foot and forefoot, i do have normal ankles etc, and these do need a little bit of extra tightening to keep the heel in snuggly, but i wouldn't go far as to say that they're loose in the heel area.
I've always run in fairly lightweight and flat shoes, so the zero drop isn't something that i really noticed, and even if it's not something you've done before, there's enough cushion there that it shouldn't feel too firm. It's probably a little too much for me actually so i'm gonna try Altra's more minimal 'One' shoe after these i think, for a slightly less springy feel.
One thing i would say is don't buy these shoes for looks... they're fairly basic in terms of aesthetics, but the materials in them seem to be of good quality.”
