“Very unobtrusive and do the job if it is not too wet. It is necessary to remember to put them on before the shoes and to carefully position the rubber rings to avoid contact with the ground.”
“I have used the Debris Gaiters O-Rocs and Mudclaws whilst orienteering for many years, and that has involved going through heather, bracken, brashings etc. and loose scree and rocks and often wet. Apart from going through replacement underfoot rubber bands frequently, the gaiters last a long time, probably as long as the shoe.
The only downside is that the underfoot rubber band needs to have a space in the tread for it to lie recessed into, so it's no good for shoes like the Trail Tallon. Inov-8 do offer the Ultra Gaiter which hooks into special pockets on the sides of many of their shoes. But I found the large size gaiter on size 13 shoes is loose and baggy round the heel and the ankle.”
“These debriS (!) gaiters are excellent, this is my second pair (lost one of the originals) - they are a simple design that just do what they are supposed to, with minimum fuss.
If you expect them to keep your feet dry you will be disappointed; their job is to keep all the bits of stone, muck and bracken out of your shoes and they do this extremely effectively. You put them on at the start of an event and your shoes become one thing you really don't have to think about again.
Excellent design and construction quality, delivered very rapidly and at a very acceptable price - 5 stars all the way.”
“This pair is for my wife as Ive already got a pair and really like them, they are flexible, tough, simple and inexpensive and the securing loop and hook are sturdy.”
“The arrival of my rugged action spat was much anticipated, and was not a disappointment. Be it sand, stones or mud you are negotiating, the snug but unobtrusive secure fit keeps it all out. True, they are not waterproof, but a quick spray with some after-market water-be-gone pretty much fixes that, and coupled with a gore-tex or similar shoe, delivers a pretty waterproof lower-leg outfit. This has been a real treat in the wet weather of late, and has also reduced the hassle of trying to wash compacted mud out of running socks that were white, a long long time ago. If you run off road in the winter - get some. If you run in sand and stones at any time - get some.”
