Avian Scales and Bowl Reviews

4.5 Rating 24 Reviews
Read Northern Parrots Reviews

Monitoring your bird's weight is an extremely reliable indicator of health and can alert you to problems days before they would be evident otherwise.
These scales are accurate to within 1 gram or 0.1oz and can weigh up to 5kg. Uses four AAA batteries (already supplied).
They also come with a bowl for weighing baby birds.
There is also a choice of an additional T-Perch (SOLD SEPERATELY) for adult birds. To fit, you remove the bowl and secure the T Perch. Remember to reset to zero, now your bird can step onto the perch for a quick health check.

This truly will be a LOVE it or HATE it accessory for most birds, some will welcome it and other will destroy you if you dare attempt to put it on them!, mine luckily is not aggressive at all and allows me albeit reluctantly to put this on him, he struggles biting it for about 5 minutes and fails to damage it, being an African Grey this is a true testament to its durability!, once settled down he seems to like the outdoors on shoulder and when he inevitably tries to fly down its a soft bungee type pull on the cord so as not to hurt him with a sudden yank! very well made, soft and durable, would reccommend!

frankie our grey had escaped went missing for three days we were lucky enough to get him back! Had to return it and was given a full refund as this put me off ever taken him outside with a harness we felt this item would encourage an escape outside so unfortunately Frankie will not be getting a harness

These scales work well. Not had chance to try out perch yet as I weigh my budgie in the dish. My Ringneck is currently too afraid to be weighed but the perch feature is for him.

Fit my african grey and he was happy to put it on. He flew a bit and the bungee cord came straight off. Bird was on top of his cage with the harness and I was left with the leash. Glad I wasnt outside when this happened or I could have lost him, he,s only a baby. I feel the clamp holding the leash to the rest of the harness is inadequate. Have asked other people how they got on with theirs and one woman had her bird outside when this happened, others have sent me pictures of the clamps on theirs. Its a pity that this small thing lets the harness down but it could mean birds are lost. Be aware of this problem if you buy this harness

I got this for my tiels and it is a must have piece of kit. When they are in the mating mode, sick, acting weird or not eating I go into vet mode and start checking their weight everyday. You would be suprised how much this helps - especially when you are talking to your vet, with this I can tell my vet how much my tiels normally weigh, how much they tend to put on when they gorge and how much tends to drop off naturally and what their weight has been like when it concerned me enough to drag them to the vet. And it really helps the vet too because they really take the weight loss or gain into consideration when they tell you what may be wrong with your bird.As for the scale itself - well made, small and very precise. And took very little to get them to stand on it without running for their lives,
