Hi - My Afrrican Grey is a rescue. His feet and legs were not fully formed due to calcium deficiency. We have beenr ecommended by the vet to put him on Harrisons. However, he cant hold food in his feet and only eats from a dish. Will these be ok for him or too big. Thanks

When I adopted my parrot, he had been eating seeds and was looking kind of dishevelled. After switching him over to these pellets his feathers, over the course of a few months, improved significantly, both in strength, color and luster. There is no doubt in my mind that he is much healthier this way, and as a nice bonus he is a lot more interested in training when his treats are different from his normal food. I would recommend anyone to try to switch their dry seed-eating parrots over to some kind of pellets, and Harrisons is a good brand to try.

Harrisons Lifetime seems to be based in corn but there is one big problem: the corn here is not completely grinded and is left in solid pointy and even sharpened pieces plastered into the pellet... which is a problem because a caged bird cannot digest at all these rocklike debris since in captivity they never care to use or even have the needed grit for this task so as a result my african grey had long painful digestions -you can clearly see them having cramps after they eat- that ended with pooping the corn slices stained in BLOOD... I tried the high potency coarce variation whichs seems to have much less solid debris but it is very VERY heavy with fats and the poor bird again had long difficult digestions so I was forced to change of brand even if this is high quality stuff. Moral of the tale: learn to properly grind your food Harrison if you even care -however my parrot loves the harrison power treats, but unfortunately it is not a maintenance food and again very heavy with fats-

I bought a packet hoping to ensure a good diet for my Yellow Naped Amazon who likes her fruit but not so many greens. The little madam refuses to eat them. I will persist in offering them to her in the hope she will accept them in her own good time.. Such a diva.

Thank you for your comments, it can take a while for Parrots to get used to new foods. You could try mixing it in with her current food gradually, at a ratio of 9:1, then increasing the ratio slowly, and see if that helps.

My vet put my parrot on this comeplete diet due to many vitamin deficiencies from being on a seed diet. The result a diet not suited to my Jardine was feather plucking around his crop area. After many tests and illnesses being ruled out, the vet narrowed the issue down to his diet. Harrisons has been a lifesaver. After the diet change and some supplements initially my parrot is in full health and it shows in his plumage and general wellbeing. This is solely down to harrisons and I cant recommend it highly!
