“I had no trouble getting my tiels to try these - they must look and taste appetising, but I think these pellets are just too hard and some of them too large for my cockatiels. The long green ones in particular NEVER get munched, and they remove them from the bowl. When the birds are crunching the rest up, they fling all over the place as they are very tough. If they were smaller I don't think it would be a problem, but large pieces just end up getting wasted all over the cage floor and the floor outside of the cage.By comparison, Harrison's pellets are small and soft. Perhaps the hardness of the Kaytee pellets is good for their beaks and provides better stimulation? But if you're worried about mess and wastage, these possibly aren't the best choice.”
“We used this as a mixture to liven up the Harrison's pellets we usually give our tiel. He loved the taste and licked them like mad but just couldn't bite them. When he finally did it exploded in his face. We tried soaking them in fruit juice as suggested on the pack but this just seemed to make them slippery and they pinged acros the room and fell out the cage. If they came in budgie size it would have been better as I think our cockatiel may have been able to manage these!”

“My cockatiel ("Punk") is a HUGE selective feeder, and this food allows for that - different shapes and colours, all equal nutrition. This is a good main food; however i do mix in other things (mostly to stop her getting bored, to give variety, and to help digestion and general health)...I find the best mixture for my bird is: fill the feed dish with "Kaytee", then add about 1-third of a teaspoon of seed-mix, 1 pinch of calcium powder, and a small sprinkle of charcoal.PLEASE NOTE: If your bird is like mine and is scared of EVERYTHING new, don't worry and give up on this food straight away. In my case, it took about 3 days before my bird would try it - once she was hungry enough, she ate it... And now she LOVES the stuff!”
