I heard many people talk of feeding birds pellets more than seeds etc, so when I got my bird I wanted to make sure it would get the best nutrition, I had previously tried harrisons with my budgie which she ate as soon as it was given to her however she started to regurgitate something white so I immediately stopped, I then found out about Tops, after reading reviews from bird owners online I decided to give them a try. At first I could not really tell if my bird was trying them or not but here I am months later persevering with them and finally noticing they are being eaten, my bird will even hold them to eat. I would give 5 stars but I feel they are expensive for the size of the bag, I buy pellets for my rabbits and have never paid more than 5 pounds for a 2kg bag.

After doing research on diets and contacting professional its safe to say these pellets are not only the safest, human grade, but also the most balanced out in terms on nutrition. As Iv looked into both harrisons and zupreem since these were the most favourable amongst parrot owners, there was a few details that put me off from those 2. Harrisons was packed will alot of unnecessary fats and carbohydrates, while zupreem had alot of sugars. Alongside both seemingly being processed with heat, which is a loss in nutrition. To fellow parrot owners, keep that in mind when feeding your bubs.TOPs on the other hand first of all is cold-pressed, meaning no nutrients are lost in the production process. The pellets themselves contain Rice, Millet Hulled, Barley, Alfalfa Leaf alongside Quinoa Whole, Buckwheat Hulled, Dandelion Leaf Powder, Carrot Powder, Spinach Leaf Powder, Seaweeds Purple Dulse Kelp, Rose Hips Powder, Rose Hips Crushed, Orange Peel Powder, Lemon Peel Powder, Rosemary Whole Leaf, Cayenne Ground, Crushed Red Chilli Peppers, Nettle Leaf, Cinnamon. Keep in mind these are cold-pressed, and those ingredients make up in alot of nutritional value when fed alongside fresh produce like chop.I encourage any parrot owner to read the back of any pellet food you give to your bubs, amd when it comes to TOPs compared to Harrisons and Zupreem I definitely think the pros outweigh the cons.I have 2 bubs, a 16 year old cockatiel Lucifer and a 1 year old white fronted amazon Dino. Although Luci has tried the pellets he has no further interest in eating them, BUT this is purely since he is on the older side and hasnt had proper nutrition from the beginning. He eats seed alongside some veggies here and there when hes in the mood. Now this does not mean that this is a good diet, but I have so far not had any problems with him. A big factor in this is the fact that he is fully flighted and I do believe it keeps him fit and burns off the fats from his seed diet.Dino on the ot

I used to give my parrots zupreem fruit pellets but recently they have been refusing to eat them. I bought Tops pellet to see if they like it and so far they are eating it. I am very happy with it and I look forward to buy more.

Both birds really enjoy these and I like the fact that they are made from ethically sourced, organic human grade foods and are not overly processed. My birds have previously eaten both superfine Harrisons and fruity zupreem pellets and these are undoubtedly preferred.

After reading about bird nutrition I thought I would try to get my cockatiel, Jasper, onto a mixture of pellets and seed to give him a more rounded diet. He is quite a fussy eater and, as others have also mentioned, he is put off by treats that are too hard i.e nutriberries - even though they look very appetising. I wasnt overly optimistic and thought the process of getting him to eat the pellets may take weeks so I just put a small amount in with his seed to start with and offered Jasper a pellet by hand. To my amazement he ate the pellet from my hand and then went on to pick all of the others out of his bowl of seed and eat these first. Im amazed. Theyre like catnip for cockatiels! Would definitely reccomend trying them with birds who dont like overly hard treats or fussy eaters. The only down side I have is that as they are quite soft and crumbly, and as Jasper is such a messy eater, most of each pellet ends up on the floor of his cage... making for very expensive waste!
