Manzanita is a sweet-tasting, tropical hardwood. It is particularly strong and resists most bird`s chewing attempts indefinitely. The flat perch helps to exercise your bird`s feet and prevent sores.
Although Manzanita can split when drying like any wood, this is not a fault, merely an indicator of the hardness, your Parrot certainly won`t mind.
Be sure to provide plenty of other material for your bird to chew though!

“I really love this perch for my pet Senegal. Its an excellent variation to the perches available. Scout took to it easy, especially when I put it up high for her to sleep on. I move my perches regually and sometimes swap out to keep the birdie entertained, and this one she always goes to first. The bolt on my one was lovely a large and would suit even a cage with very large bar spacing. The size of the small one is very decent. When sat on it width ways theres still a gap from her feet to the edge.”

“I bought this as the word on parrot forums is, parrots need to rest their feet on a flat surface from time to time and I had noticed my elderly (28 yr old) cockateil had been standing on his cuttlebone a lot. Well, after a week of fairly complex manoeuvres and route changes around his cage to avoid the "monster" he has taken to it and sits happily on it munching on his favourite millet spray and carrot stick. He loves his soft cotton perch too”

“I have one of these next to my Conure's cosy hut. He loves to sit on it before bed or when he first wakes up. It also provides a nice high place for him to sit and eat treats that he has foraged or to play with his favourite ball. He loves dragging it up there in his mouth, having a chew and then dropping it off the edge.”

“I was really happy when I received this perch , its very good quality - good solid natural wood. Most importantly Charlie my cockatiel loves it! The main reason I got it was because she has a little problem with one of her toes curling up so I thought this would be ideal for her to rest her feet. But I would recommend to any bird whether they have a problem with their feet or not. Its just great for them to rest their feet in another position rather than being curled around a perch all the time.”

“When I first got these perches for my 2 Quaker's and Petz Conure they would'nt go near it! but saying that anything new takes a while for them sometimes to like but since then they are always on these flat perches chilling out and after all its good for there feet. :D”
