Flag Paint's Traffic Grade Chlorinated Rubber paint is a good general purpose, hard wearing and chemical resistant paint with excellent chemical and abrasion resistance. Available in 5 different colours.
Product Description:
Chlorinated Rubber Paint is a general purpose hard-wearing chemically resistant paint with excellent chemical and abrasion resistance, often used as drain demarcation paint. It is ideal where conditions require a degree of chemical and water resistance typical examples would be catteries & kennels, dairy parlours, road crossings, car parks, swimming pools, manhole covers, metal or concrete posts and metal tanks. It is also excellent for road markings where high visibility and durability is a must. Chlorinated Rubber paint should not be applied over PVA sealer, latex self levelling compounds or power floated concrete (see below).

Area of use:
Interior and exterior

Substrates:

Concrete, ferrous metal, manhole covers and road surfaces

Tins sizes:

1 litre (Black Only),2.5 Litres (Black Only), 5 litres, 20 litres (4 x 5 litre)

Technical Information:
Colours: Black, Yellow (10E53), White, Traffic Red (RAL3020), Light Blue
Finish: Semi gloss
Volume solids: 55%
Theoretical spreading rate: 15 m² per litre
Typical spreading rate 10 – 12m² per litre dependent on surface porosity
Flash point: 23°C
Specific gravity: 1.3 – 1.4
Dry to touch: 1 - 2 hours (20°C)
Over-coating time: 16 hours
*The theoretical spreading rate has been calculated for the stated volume solids and dry film thickness. A practical spreading rate will depend on the actual dry film thickness, the nature of the substrate, and the relevant consumption factor. The physical constants are subject to normal manufacturing tolerances.

Application Information:

Application method: Brush, roller, conventional and airless spray
Thinner: Xylene
Cleaning of tools: Xylene
Number of coats: 1 - 2 depending on the substrate and finish required. (Do not apply too thickly)

Preparation method:
When applying chlorinated rubber paint the surface should be stable, firm, dry and free of dust, sand, loose old paint, dirt, grease and oil. Do not apply at temperatures below 5°C.
When applying to absorbent surface such as trowel finished concrete adhesion will be improved by diluting the first coat by 10% with Xylene. Powerfloated concrete should be etched or mechanically abraded before application. Chlorinated rubber does not require priming but for the best results we recommend using a rust inhibiting primer on ferrous metals.
There can be a solvent reaction with some substrates. When applying to large areas (more than 20m²) or if there is any doubt over adhesion or solvent reaction always apply to a small test area first.
Nb. Chlorinated rubber paint is not suitable for overcoating with a conventional paint.
