Well designed and well manufactured, as usual with Leatherman products. The 'Free' range is exceptionally well-designed, easier to use one-handed, safer blade locking mechanisms. Excellent tool.

A good multi tool with some drawbacks. A well constructed multi tool as you would expect from Leatherman. Fairly small and compact with useful features for its size; Blade, metal file, flat screw driver, crosshead screw driver, tweezers, scissors, awl, bottle opener, fine flat screw driver and a belt clip. there is a small cross drilled hole in the handle at one end that is useful for tying a loop of securing cord through. I have been able to operate most of the features on the Free T4 with a single hand operation, as advertised, but that can't be said for the blade. This doesn't bother me too much but do be careful if you are trying to open the blade single handed. One thing that really annoys me with any Leatherman product purchased in the UK is the price compared to the price paid in the United States! this is the same for the Free T4. In the States it retails at approximately $50 to $60 Dollars yet here in the UK it is at least £75 GBP. It does make me feel ripped off! Another annoying thing I find with the Free T4 (at the time of writing the review) is the lack of a specifically designed carrying pouch so that the multitool can be carried on a belt. There should be an option to either have this supplied with the multitool or purchase it separately. In summary; good quality but not 100% perfect.

I am a huge Leatherman fan, and own various models, going back over 25 years or so. My favourite to date is one of my first (original SS Wave) I bought the Free T4 just to see what Leatherman are up to these days. (Sept 2019). Pleased to say they are getting the visual amenity pretty much spot on..!! This thing looks 'The Dogs' and also, importantly, feels great in the hand.I Hark back to 80s SAK , with a modern twist, and you may get the idea...? It's light weight (very) and well built. I don't agree with other posts re the plastic inserts making it feel and look cheap. The magnetic core theory was another thing that attracted me, and to a certain degree, it works. HOWEVER, out of the box, try getting the blade out with one hand, and you might just snap your right thumb tendon...!! It is definitely a two handed job. The other tools are manageable with one hand, but hardly 'Rolls Royce' smoothness. All that said, it's another great looking tool from Leatherman, and feels strong, lightweight, and extremely well thought out and put together. Just don't get to frustrated if you haven't got super human strengths in one hand..
