“I've had my Leatherman Wave+, a month now and love it. It is never far away, sitting on my belt or in my day pack, which my old Gerber mp400 did and served me well until I misplaced it. In truth, while I wasn't a huge fan of the half-serrated blade, I loved my Gerber. It was light, and practical, and I didn't see the need to buy a Leatherman. But the January sales came and after living without for 3 months I decided to try out the Leatherman. The Wave+ is much heavier, and feels very robust compared to the Gerber. It is also really stiff, which I attributed to it being new and packed with grease, but even after several liberal applications of WD40 and 3-in-1 penetrating oil, it remains really stiff with no signs of loosening.
I like the two blades and a tiny yet decent saw blade. I also like the knife sharpener, but the irony is that as It is attached you can't sharpen its blades with it I also think the scissors are better designed and love the interchangeable screwdriver bit option.
Would I recommend it? Yes, if you are looking for a really robust multitool with a lot of tools on it then this is a really good option. It is more expensive than a Gerber, but it is very solid and comes with a 25-year guarantee, and all indications are that they are true to their word without quibble. If however, you are on a tight budget, you should at least check out the opposition first before buying a Leatherman.”
“I've owned, worn out, broken and lost a number of knives and multitools over the years and always avoided the expense of a leatherman. This was a mistake I wish I'd rectified years ago. These leatherman multitools are really well made, easy to use and the way they lock puts other famous makes to shame.
