“Review of the Leatherman Wave+
I carry out daily maintenance duties at a zoo and theme park, and have become increasingly aware that many simple tasks could easily be carried out, with a multi tool, and to this end, the Wave+ appeared to fit the role perfectly. I didn't want a multitude of tools that will never be used, preferring function over form. A compact shape and design was also another requirement.
The tool did arrive with a few sharp edges, which were quickly addressed with the use of some 2500 grit paper. It was more of an attention to detail issue than anything else.
One of the reasons for purchasing this model was the interchangeable bit head. Stupidly, I assumed that normal hex bits could be used, but they can't. It was a slight disappointment, but it is totally my fault for not carrying out proper research.
The Wave+ has quickly become an indispensable tool, and I wouldn't now be without one. If I were able to redesign it, I would make it to accept conventional hex bits, and also add a sharp pin, for splinter removal. With those two additions, it would be my perfect multi tool. It still gets a straight 10 out of 10 from me though.”
