“Having watched 127 hours, and having a cheap multi tool, I was motivated to look at getting a decent quality tool. Not particularly with amputation in mind, but just due to the general feeling of "make do" that you get with a cheap tool. The Leatherman is a completely different proposition. Each of the functions has a sturdy feel about it, and you get the confidence that it could take a lot of abuse without damage. That said, as with any nice bit of kit, you will want to look after it! The blades are razor sharp and the saw and main knife both lock with a satisfying and solid click. The pliers feel like proper pliers and you don't feel like you have to hold back when using them like you do with a lesser tool. I note some of the criticisms about the pouch, but it couples up well with the carabiner accessory, and if you need to have it handy for quick use then there is the belt clip and lanyard ring. The pouch is a soft alternative to keep it in a pocket or to hang it off/in a back pack. The Sidekick is just great to have at your side!”
“WOW! I needed a nice tool which is very reliable and won't break, this is what I got! The blade is SUPER SHARP! The saw is great! I like the plain blade AND the serrated blade!!!! All I needed on this! Could do with some other tools, package opener, scissors, like joining the Wingman and Sidekick together in one. LEATHERMAN - please make a quality case for this! The leather one is not my favourite! Maybe a black one with velcro strap for both the Wingman and Sidekick. GREAT PRODUCT! MY FIRST LEATHERMAN!”

It's a shame there are no sheath's available yet (hence 4 stars and not 5) but it does have a pocket clip which is useful and can be removed if necessary.”

The blade is incredibly sharp and ought to hold its edge for ages, whilst the spring loaded pliers work very well indeed.
