“I am reading one tip per day so I can absorb it and work on that one tip for the day. Some of it are things I have done before with running years ago, but long forgotten. Thanks for making this guide and hoping it helps me get some ammo to keep my body and mind going forward!”
“A very comprehensive guide to improving your mountain biking in your 50 + years. It's full a useful tips and guidelines to help you maintain and improve your biking. You even get a free tip :0)”
“As a 60 year old had had a dout when i saw the title but stuck into reading the tips and really glad i did great effort by Matt to give us Older geezers tips to get Back on it”
“The great thing about this book of tips is that it is holistic. It looks at every aspect of your mountain biking and is so positive. I love the way it really challenges your mindset. The mental aspects of any sport are so important and are critical in enabling you to be the best that you can be. There are lots of anecdotal examples that are very inspiring. I very much like the focussing on the process side of things rather than just the end product. I would recommend this to anyone, any age to be honest.”
“Hi Matt, Great work, the guide has lots of very useful content! I am using certain Points to address parts of my current 12 week training program (I am in week 5) and browsing through the remainder! Cheers, Nick”
“Having previously read the 12 Week Mountain Bike training programme and the Stupidly Simple Nutrition for Mountain Bikers’ Guide, I was looking forward to reading ‘50 Essential Tips Every Mountain Biker Needs to Know’ and Matt let me read a copy prior to its release.
One of the first things I liked about the ’50 Essential Tips’ is its range of topics which include mindset, weight loss, building fitness and strength and recovery and the way these have been tailored to mountain bikers who are 50 and over. One of my favourite chapters was chapter 1 which discusses mindset, and this includes 7 really useful tips which address issues including motivation and positive thinking.
The second thing I liked about the guide is its layout which includes the 50 tips, and this makes the guide really easy to read and to find relevant information. The guide also links to the 12 Week Mountain Bike training programme and the Stupidly Simple Nutrition for Mountain Bikers’ Guide, if the reader wants more specific exercise and nutrition information.
The third thing I liked about the guide is its tone. The guide contains Matt’s extensive knowledge of training, nutrition, and mountain biking and it is never preachy. The guide is friendly and supportive and includes a great foreword by Steve Peat and anecdotes from Matt together with suggested solutions for any issues which are being faced by the reader.
Having read ‘50 Essential Tips Every Mountain Biker Needs to Know’, I will definitely be applying some of the tips in my training and mountain biking.”
