Car Hire Excess Insurance really is such an obvious choice if you ever find out what they want to charge you are the desk when picking up the car. For me CHEW has a good level of cover and a full list of possible claims. Fortunately I have never had to claim. Although Goldcar was exremely rude when I explained I had CHEW Car Hire Excess Insurance and didn't want their CDW as it was FAR more than the cost of the rental.

Policy covered me for what I wanted, thankfully I did not have to use it. Would recommend.

I've taken out excess insurance twice. We all expect that we'll not have to claim but I once had to claim for a small dent less than 10mm in diameter that I could swear was not there when I returned to car for which I had to pay several hundred pounds. My guess was that the dent was made by the person checking the vehicle out. Chew were excellent in this case and also for the case in which I did not have to claim. It was quick and easy to set up.

Nearly 3 months after making a claim I am still waiting for a decision on the damage sustained to my hire car. I have emailed requesting the claim be expedited but still no response. Apparently an assessor should contact me but 2 weeks after my last email still no response. Very disappointing.
