António Pinto Carvalho, founded APC Musical Instruments in 1976, with the purpose of constructing chordophones.
It was at the age of 10 when António Pinto Carvalho began to learn the art to which he would dedicate his life. By following the teachings of his grandfather he built his first guitars. Today, he is one of the most important luthiers in Portugal helped by his wife and two sons.
With over 50 employees, APC Musical Instruments is the largest Portuguese company in the industry, manufacturing a wide range of instruments for worldwide distribution. APC invests in the latest technologies, looking for the highest accuracy and precision possible in construction methods. Don’t forget, however, the touch of each "luthier" on every instrument, making each piece a unique work of beauty and sonority. The symbiosis between nineteenth-century manufacturing techniques and the technology of today is key to ensuring the quality and authenticity of each instrument.

The Mandolin is a magnificent piece of craftsmanship, and after tuning, the sound is amazing, and I have been running my fingers through a couple of polkas and jigs! I am very happy with this. On the physical side the neck is slightly wider and deeper then what I am used to on my other mandolin, but after watching my hand position, I feel I will benefit with the wider neck and also help me with hand position and loosen my thumb grip on the fiddle that I play also.
