I received my Killarney D whistle from McNeela's about 3 weeks ago and have since been enjoying it so much. The sweetness of tone and clarity of the high notes is a joy. It took me a little while to become accustomed to the slight breath needed for the lower notes and also the lower volume, but now I am delighted by the responsiveness and reliability. My experience is somewhat limited, but I'm convinced that it must be one of the finest whistles on the market and I'm pleased to own it.

This is the first time we have purchased an item from McNeela Instruments. The service was excellent and, we would not hesitate to purchase from them again. My husband is delighted with the Whistle and the quality is outstanding.

Great sound and quality Decided to pay just a little extra to get a decent practice one. This one sounds great even in the higher registers that usually get screechy on cheaper tin whistles.

D Whistle A beautiful sounding whistle without any of the screeching you can get from the cheaper whistles. Very high quality design and a pleasure on the eye. Would have got 5 stars but for one small drawback. It has a tendency to clog quite quickly mid tune leading to stuck notes. Perhaps something the designers could address? Apart from that, an excellent instrument. Well done Mcneela.

Very grateful! Many thanks to the folks at McNeela music! This instrument arrived swiftly! Even sooner than expected. In eager anticipation I reached out to Mcneela music regarding my order and received a quick reply. I've been playing tin whistle for a few years and have a few inexpensive ones. The Killarney is worth saving up for! It's hard for me to hear any difference sound wise between it and a generation, however, I've played both through the phone for friends and family, and all have heard a noticable difference. The Killarney is regularly described as more mellow sounding. It's playability is striking. The notes dance right off of the pipe, and the higher octive is rather effortless. A must have for any Whistler's collection, and will definitely be making future purchases from McNeela! https://youtu.be/AlZ6Xo5FvCI

Great highs, but... The high octave on this whistle is so easy to reach, a real joy. But the “low” d constantly buzzes, no matter how often, or how carefully I clean the whistle. It’s gotten so I avoid playing the whistle at all. The only whistle I own that has this problem, and I am definitely disappointed.

I am not a whistle expert, but have played cheaper ones for a number of years. This is my first more expensive whistle. I researched throughout the internet on what to get. I liked the sound of brass compared to others demonstrated. Brass seemed a little bit mellower. I ordered it in January and got an e-mail from McNeela the next day that it was in the mail. With delay challenges from the pandemic, Brexit, and snow storms across the US to the Pacific Northwest, it took 23 days. I'm not complaining; it is what it took. The whistle was well packaged and came with a very nice case. It is everything I expected. It has a very nice sound and I love it. As expected, it is a little heavier than other whistles I've played, but I like the feel of stability. Because it is brass, it does tarnish. If you want bright and shiny, you will have to polish. If you want to look like it's a well used whistle, let it tarnish. That's my choice. The sound is the same. My biggest challenge is the moisture. It is brass and moisture seems to collect easily. With some note changes I get a small "bark" from the moisture collection. I find to void moisture it helps to cover all finger openings, plug the end with my little finger and blow hard into the top fipple opening. Moisture then comes out the mouthpiece. I had seen discussion on weight, tarnish, and moisture in my research, so I expected it. In all, I love the whistle and would recommend it, with the understanding of benefits and challenges.
