“When it comes to watch design, I'm very picky. I realized that the slightest imperfections could make me regret my purchase after getting my first Seiko automatic several years ago, and I had been on the hunt for the perfect watch ever since.
After two weeks with the Daytimer Madainn, I'm happy to say that it remains visually flawless. The design is both unique and cohesive, giving the impression that each element has been carefully crafted and considered as a part of the whole. I especially like the letterman jacket numbers. For whatever reason, they mix well with the Bauhausy line work.
I'd also like to give a special mention to the fit. I went to a watch store to test the size before my Daytimer arrived, and there were plenty of 41mm watches that fit a lot worse on my slender 17cm/6.7in wrist. I think this owes to the curved case and inner bezel. It's much more interesting than had they given the watch a dial that extends to a case that meets it at a right angle. The wire-style lugs also help to prevent the watch from appearing too chunky.
From the pictures I expected the dial's material to be more akin to a white enamel or porcelain than the silver that it really is. Marloe is transparent about the dial's appearance, describing it as "stainless steel pebble has been sliced open to reveal the soft white interior," but I imagine I'm not the only one who was surprised when they opened the box. It wasn't an unpleasant surprise, though. The steel has a nice sheen and pairs well with the dark leather strap I chose.”
