“Ok, I’m a fan of Marloe watches. I love their story, I love the fact they’re British designed and their prices make quality watches far more accessible than most. Consequently I own several of their models.
The new Pacific 76 sits on equal terms at the top of the pile with the Morar, my previous favourite. I’ll be honest some of my Marloe watches just don’t sit comfortably on my wrist over an extended period of time but this does. I’ve worn it pretty much none stop (water activities excluded) for several weeks and it sits there feeling very natural, looking classy and delivering outstanding time accuracy.
I was really pleased to see a shift away from the ‘standardisation’ of some of their other ranges with a similar look due to the big round face, The Pacific retains the Marloe style but definitely has an identity if it’s own and the cut in sides really add a different look and appeal to this timepiece. The leather strap was flexible from the off with the mid dark colour offsetting the blue dial very nicely.
My only gripe and reason I haven’t given five stars is the lume. As it only sits at the end of the hands it is difficult at times to pick out the minute hand in darkness. If it is sitting over any of the hour markers it is difficult to distinguish it and for someone who does often check time through the night this means a quick glance is often not enough and I need to look several times to confirm.
All in all this is a fantastic looking, comfortable and extremely accurate watch that would make a great addition to any collection or as a one off for someone looking for a good quality mechanical watch.”
