“When I went looking for my first mechanical watch, I had some simple but clear expectations: A sapphire crystal, an exhibition back so I could enjoy my first non-quartz watch, and an attractive design. The more I looked, the more I saw how similar many affordable watch designs are, lacking in differentiation and real character. But a brand I kept coming back to was Marloe. I bought the Coniston Bluebird based on design, specs, cost and concept. I considered the steel, with its contrast and subtle red touches, but the story of the racing Campbells kept drawing me back to the bluebird.
I could highlight many design touches with this watch, such as well applied indices, but I have to hand it to them with the lume. The white circle separates the blue chapter ring from the main blue dial, and so serves as a simple but effective design element. In the dark, the white circle reveals itself to be luminescent, a unique excite and delight. Though a small thing, it’s a good example of the quality and functionality of the design language. In a world of samey watches, Marloe designs really stand apart.”

“For many years I owned handbuilt , bespoke British Sportscars. The attraction was having something different to the mainstream, something that wasn't part of the crowd.A product from a small manufacturer, punching well above its weight. On seeing the Marloe Consiston Bluebird for the first time I experienced the same feelings. The colour of the dial was so different to anything I had seen before, the application and execution of the the lume was unique. The watch itself is beautifully made and evokes a sense of occasion everyone it is worn. The additional appeal of dealing direct with the people who made and designed the watch makes purchasing a watch from the Marloe Watch Company a special experience, with many top end watches you are just another faceless customer. I hope as Marloe get bigger that this will not be lost, as it makes all the difference.
I love the watch and I am so pleased I took the plunge and bought it, I actually looked at it for several weeks, ending up with me missing the chance to pick my birthday as a serial number. However this worked out well as I spotted that the serial number 0167 ( January 1967) was still available, a date which adds a certain poignancy to the watch and ties in with the " Courage is not being fearless" quote.
