SINGLE SPEED OR FIXIE?
The Gipiemme Pista Fixed wheels come with a flip-flop rear hub, allowing you to ride both freewheel and fixed. Freewheel allows you to coast, pedalling only when you want to just like any other bike you’re used to. Riding fixed means just that—if the wheels are moving then so are the cranks and your legs, offering an unparalleled connected experience. We fit brakes as standard on every bike we build, so you’ll be able to stop no matter how you choose to ride.

If any bike company has to make a youtube video saying that they aren’t a s*** brand, that’s probably a good sign to steer clear. I however, am naiive. The fixed and freewheel cogs on the bike are different sizes, meaning that the chain is too short to change the bike to fixed gear. This completely defeats the purpose of buying of buying a single speed bike with a flip flop wheel. I suspect that mango just assumed I wouldn’t want to ride fixed and just chucked a random cog on the bike for show. The pedals were of low quality and nearly threaded the crank arms, even with grease, so I had to replace the pedals straight away. I’ve worked at a bike shop for over a year so this isn’t anything to do with me installing them wrong. I’d say that it would be better to spend more money on a company that pays more attention to detail, but honestly I’ve had better experiences with Hackney cycles in the past.

Hey George Well that's disappointing to hear and defo not what the hundreds of other Level2 riders have said. Sorry you feel let down. Cogs - quite possibly there has been a mix-up in freewheel and fixed cog size - count them, drop us an email with what size you want and we'll be more than happy to sort them. Pedals - we supply a basic set with the bikes. There are options to upgrade to the platform pedals which are higher spec. There are soooo many choices of pedals around and everyone has their own preference, the standard set we send goes into 1000's every year and does well. Aside from cog size and pedals have you got sorted or are still able to ride? The double-butted Chromoly frame is lightweight and super comfy. The crankset, wheels and other parts sealed bearing. We worked with bike messengers and couriers when designing the Level2 range to make it a really robust and value-packed bike. Hopefully the initial frustrations can be replaced by happy cycling. Drop us a message and we'll get the cogs and pedal sorted. Mango Bikes // Andrew
