“This is a well-made lantern, using cast aluminium for the body and bracket, and using glass for the shade. It is black powder-painted, so should be extremely durable. It has a ceramic screw-fit lampholder which is accessible through an open aperture at the bottom. It has a good-looking traditional appearance. You have to insert the glasses and screw the shade body to the 'roof'. The wall back box is strong plastic and it is held to the wall by two screws (supplied). I was less keen on the rear cable entry in the centre of the back box. I cannot make a cable access through the wall, so had to enlarge an existing moisture-escape aperture at the bottom of the back box. If the wall is very uneven, you might need to fit a wooden pattress which you would have to make yourself. The lantern casts good light all round and downwards, giving excellent illumination with 100-w equivalent LEDs.”
