The hide is lovely and velvety. The anthracite is a deep dusky blue-grey that works well with black or blue pants (there is only a hint of blue, it's a very nice colour). I have worn them with black cargo pants and blue jeans. Plenty of space for your toes to spread out. I take a UK 8 in Adidas and a UK 9 in Converse; I got these in a UK 9 and am very happy with them. I could have possibly gone a half-size down (? not sure) but they are for loafing around and I want them to be easy to slip on and off as I have a small holding and am constantly swapping from house shoes to rigger boots and back again. I have worn them outside around town and they are fine to walk around in, and so they should be, but just wanted to clarify as I referred to them as house shoes. They are grippy but lose some grip on wet tiles, though this wasn't a problem. I would say I have average width feet and the width is fine for me. I can slip them on and off easily, but don't fall off, so that's great. The extended rubber tab is handy and I don't notice it at all when I am wearing them. Yes, you can feel larger stones underfoot, but that's part of the fun. I have driven in them without a problem. I took a spare pair of shoes the first time just in case, as the toe bed is quite wide, so far they have not fouled any pedals. I did notice I had to use my toes more, which is good and part of the whole barefoot thing I guess. This can only strengthen my toe muscles. Yes, I can feel it if I bang my heel down hard, that is par for the course for this type of shoe. I am looking forward to my hiking and x-country running shoes wearing out so I can swap them out for more Vivos. So far so good.
