“I ordered a Youngman Eco S Line Loft Ladder from Ladderstore after doing a lot of research online and reading a lot of reviews. It’s one of the cheapest ‘well-built’ loft ladders, with a solid wood construction and wide rungs making it more of a steep staircase than a ladder! It is much more expensive than some of the cheapest aluminium types, but I feel that it is well worth it, as it feels very solid when extended. Packaging was excellent and there was no damage to any parts within. Installation was pretty straightforward, although I ended up with 2 spare screws no matter how hard I looked for somewhere to put them! It requires a small amount of preassembly, where the ladder itself is attached to the hatch before fitting - I managed to fit it alone through fixing battens underneath where the assembly was to fit, this also allowed me to set the depth of protrusion correctly for when I later fit the plasterboard. During a normal installation this would definitely be a two man job as it probably weighs close to 30kg when fully assembled. There is a rail that can be fitted to either side of the ladder, and the loft hatch itself is relatively thick for insulation purposes. The ladder really is very long, if you have high ceilings this is the one for you! I am planning on cutting mine down a lot, but if anything this will make it feel even more solid, if it were possible. I ordered from Ladderstore on October 19th and later on that afternoon received an email letting me know that they were out of stock of this particular item, but gave me the option to cancel or wait until the 23rd. They also tried to call me several times (which I missed due to phone being on silent at work) but overall the level of communication was excellent. It was delivered on the day that they said it would be, and so I can recommend Ladderstore as a straightforward supplier with good communication. Thanks very much!”

“The ladder is being used to replace a spiral staircase up to the loft which has been converted into a second bedroom. The spiral staircase took up around 20% of the loft space. Since we fitted the ladder it has made the room seem far larger giving us valuable extra space. The house is a small one bedroom terraced property and space is at a premium. The landing is also quite tight and higher than more modern houses although we found the ladder tall enough even without the extension which we had ordered as an extra. We have had other loft ladders in our previous properties which pushed up into the loft but needed space to push them into. With the ladders folding onto themselves this also helped as we did not have the space to fit an aluminium one. Also having the grab rail on the side is an excellent safety feature. We received excellent service on our purchase. Your staff were very helpful and courteous. The product arrived the day after ordering, before lunchtime. You even came and collected the extension we had ordered, but found out we did not need in the end. We were delighted both with the service and the product.”

“Before my purchase we had a very small loft entrance and being a slightly more comfortable shape it was a struggle to get in the loft to the point that I thought Christmas was not going to happen as I could not get my decorations down. So I started looking online for a new ladder and loft entrance and found your website. It was very clear and professional with a live chat service which I used to ask about the size of the steps. The person dealing with my request went off to check and soon had the details I needed. I ordered online using Paypal which saved entering all my details on yet another website and the ladder came the following day even though it was free delivery. I was very impressed and Christmas has been saved. With my new loft entrance and ladder I can gain access to my loft quickly and easily. I would definitely use your web site again and would have no hesitation recommending you to anybody.”

“We looked at many loft ladders before deciding on the one we wanted - and are delighted with our choice. It is sturdy, easy to operate and feels very safe. Inevitably it's quite heavy and although I am fairly practical, I would have had difficulty with the installation. My builder had installed one before and he made it look easy. His comment was that the instructions could be more helpful.”

“Excellent, really good quality. Fitted without issues and overall very happy. Whilst I didn't have any real issues fitting, might have been nice to see a video showing how to, especially if the individual is not overly DIY competent.”

“I agree with the other reviewers that this is a lot of ladder for the money and we're very happy with it. Once installed it feels particularly safe and secure to use, important to us as we bought it for our daughter's house. I installed it myself and thought the assembly and installation instructions were fine, but you do need to allow time to study them carefully because there's quite a lot to do. It took me about 2 days to install. The only surprise was to find out that the frame for this ladder is 1 cm smaller all around than the opening size they stipulate (I think the frame is actually 113 x 55cm), and you have to pad out this gap at the fixing points with wooden blocks and wooden or plastic shims that they don't supply (I got the perfect bag of plastic shims from Screwfix for this). You use them to ensure that the frame is exactly square so that the loft hatch closes perfectly into it when installed. This is a bit of a fiddle and took some time, plus I wasn't expecting to have to buy or make the blocks and shims. But it wasn't a problem once I understood what was needed and I only needed help lifting the whole assembly on the first of the two days. All in all very pleased. Brilliant service from Ladderstore throughout and I would definitely recommend them and this ladder.”

“The loft ladders were used to replace a small loft hatch that was difficult to access and had no ladder. The old loft hatch was in the bathroom and it has now been relocated to the second bedroom. This has enabled me to start boarding out the loft which I plan to use as storage space. The loft ladders have made accessing the loft a lot easier and safer thanks to the handrail. I have been impressed with the product and price and pleased that it was delivered in such a timely manner and I would recommend Ladderstore to anyone wanting to buy loft ladders.”
