“This is an absolute godsend if you want your independence. I had a pre planned operation on my heel bone and Achilles on wednesday and started using this from friday. It has taken a couple of days to gain confidence using it outside, but I can do everything that I usually do just at a much slower pace. Took a few times to master the stairs, and doorsteps. As a female long distance runner I do have strong legs but I would not use it for long periods at a time as it does start to get heavy and tiring, and the hard cast rubs into the shin bone, but this has been eased by using the wedge to lift the knee that comes in the box. However this would not put me off buying or using it, infact I am still using it, and have progressed to a 15 minute dog walk, because those small minor issues outweigh what a great product it is. I would without doubt recommend and my son who was sceptical at first is coming around to how great it is.
UPDATE: I am now at week 4 and have been in an air boot for 3 weeks. Although I can walk in the boot for short distances, I still use the iwalk for longer distances and when I need to rest my foot. I have been given a 12 month slow recovery, full weight bearing time frame and I think I will be using this on and off for a few months yet.”
“Arrived next day as promised. Much better to use than normal crutches. I found the videos really helpful for assembly, fitting and initial use. Very glad I purchased. I think they will make my non weight bearing period much more bearable.”
“I broke my ankle and and found Iwalk knee crutch by accident whilst looking up management of broken ankle. I am so very glad I did I ordered got it the next day which was day 2 of my break as using crutches was so frustrating for me - the knee crutch changed my life absolutely gave me back my independence”
“It's not quite as advertised. It takes a lot out of you to carry out tasks using it, I couldn't envisage going shopping or back to work with it. However it is helpful and does make my life easier on a day to day basis with small tasks like making a drink and getting up at night to go to the toilet. I am 8 months pregnant so my experience is very different to most.”
“I ordered the iWALK 3 for my son (he'd shown me it online) as he's been stuck in a wheelchair for five months (3 operations), he was getting seriously depressed as he's the sort that doesn't like to sit still, he's put a bit of weight on (around 18stone) but is a thick muscular build but after checking parameters he assured me it'd be fine.
He lives alone and has always been independent, he used to tidy up, cook, etc, for me when he was a child and I was out at work.
Being stuck in a chair I could see his housekeeping deteriorating, he was struggling to cook, walk the dog and even pick the dog muck up off the garden.
He's the sort of person to do his research so would have known how to fit it etc, so when I got a text saying it had arrived I didn't think it'd take long before I knew if he'd get along with it.
30 minutes later he's on the phone while he's hoovering his flat laughing his head off. He's now saying he can do everything he needs to with ease and is already looking a little slimmer and the flats looking back the way it normally does. He even cooked me dinner to say thanks.”
