Unfortunately the crutch is too long from the knee to the groin and is impossible for me to walk with . I'm 5'10”, it's set at its shortest and impossible to fasten at top as the inside plastic piece is in my groin !

This is a really well-designed piece of equipment and it allows me to get around and use my hands. It doesn't completely replace crutches, but is a really useful addition to them. It is most important to follow carefully all the excellent instructions and to make sure that the iWALK 3.0 is correctly set up and adjusted. Small adjustments make a big difference. It didn't take me long before I was walking confidently - it is important to relax and not look down! Every now and again, I 'stub my i-toe' which leads to a quick hop. This is more likely to happen when walking on carpets or uneven ground. The first time this happened it felt awkward but I soon got used to it. The trick is to be as relaxed as possible and not to be tensed up - that way a quick hop and I have recovered. At no time have I even come close to falling. At first my shin soon became sore where it was bearing my weight, but I took things steadily and, after about three or four days, the tenderness disappeared. Please remember to keep the straps tight and go down stairs backwards - sounds peculiar but I soon got used to it. Take things gradually to become confident and try to relax. The iWALK 3.0 is so convenient and comfortable to use that I have to remind myself my injured foot is sticking out behind me and take care not to hit things with it! For doing all manner of jobs around the house, cooking, washing-up, cleaning, ironing and suchlike, the iWALK 3.0 is absolutely ideal. But, best of all, I can carry a cup of tea or a glass of wine! Although it doesn't take long to put on and take off, I keep a pair of crutches beside the bed and another pair in the sitting room in case the doorbell goes or the cat wants out! I expect to use crutches for about three months, maybe a bit longer. Assume 100 days. That means the iWALK 3.0 works out at less than £2.00 per day. This is really good value. Of course, I'll still have it if I ever need it again. And, it's really clever and fits either leg! In conclusion the iWALK 3.0 is an absolute boon and I should not like to be without it. Best wishes. John

I haven't had my op and have been practicing at home. The video is very helpful on how to move around. My upper body strength is weak so this offers me a much better solution. I was really nervous about how I would move around. This has given me confidence to go ahead with the op.

I spent a very hard 4 days in conventional crutches and couldn't wait for my iWALK to arrive. After watching and following all the links I was set to start walking hands free. It takes a little while to get used to it, it's heavier than I thought it would be. I've only had it 4 days but it has given me so much freedom to get around by myself. Im still not as confident as I want to be, but it's early days yet. I'm non weight bearing for 12 weeks so I'm sure I will just get more confident as the time goes on. At first wearing the iWALK puts strain onto your good leg and I also found onto my lower back. This gets better once you get used to your iWALK. When you take it off it is best to lay it down or it will fall. It would be beneficial it it was to stand up on its own. I think it would be better if the inside thigh grip was a little longer as I find it digs in a little. That said, this knee crutch is amazing and I would really recommend it to anyone.

My Wife broke an ankle and a rib after a fall. The ankle was a non weight bearing fracture and she was unable to use crutches due to the rib injury. This meant that she could not get upstairs to the bedroom and bathroom and spent a week sleeping downstairs with only the cloakroom for washing and toilet facilities. After seeing a pamphlet on the Hands Free Crutch at the Fracture Clinic we ordered one and on receipt she was able immediately to get up and down stairs including negotiating a half landing which made life considerably easier for both of us. The initial set up of the straps and sleeves while watching the video is a bit fiddly but once set up the crutch is really easy to fit and use. My wife is 68 so needs a little support from me but I'm sure a younger person would be able to use it independently. The device is well made and does what it says on the tin !!

The crutch was brilliant. It gave me the ability to do day to day things like make tea and even get out into my garage gym whilst in a cast due to an achilies rupture. I used it for 2 weeks in the flexible cast and for a week in the walking boot for taking tea upstairs and for night trips to the bathroom.
